Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island known as West Island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of different communities. People who have never heard of it often think it is a separate, west-facing island. Many times, it is credited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was not long. Brugel grew on Courtice close to Oshawa within Ontario. Her early ambition was to dance but an increase in her height meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. She admitted in an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. When I reached the height of my male counterparts and stopped dancing, I quit. Many dancers make the transition to acting. As for Brugel, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her into this path. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. It was her choice to take on the lead character in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. She was given a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program which she completed at the age of 20 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 which was viewed only occasionally.
